Heartfelt Successes!

Heartfelt Accessories had a great month! My sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, hosted a trunk show at a local venue and I was asked to be one of the vendors! I got a great response from students at Elon and from my sisters in Alpha Xi Delta. I raised $20 for Brigham and Women’s hospital (20% of the net proceeds from the sale of all items are donated to Brigham and Women’s). It felt so good to send a check to Boston last week!

More recently, I got an order in today that I will be shipping sometime this weekend. Very exciting! Heartfelt love to you all!

I love Autumn Treats!

With the arrival of Fall, I had to make a yummy fall/autumn treat. I made these Pumpkin Crunch Bars from a recipe from The Picky Apple. They were delicious! I brought some to sorority recruitment practice because I knew if I left them around the apartment my roommates and I would eat them all. Everyone was raving about them. There is certainly no shortage of butter in the recipe and the pumpkin is delicious! I need another good recipe to make before October passes by!

Inspiration: Pippa Middleton

The beautiful sister of Catherine Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, participated in the GE Blenheim Triathlon. More recently, she participated in the Highland Cross 2011, a 50 mile duathlon (20-mile run and 30-mile bike ride)
which takes place in the Scottish Highlands.

From the looks of Pippa’s race photos, she looks like she loves exercise and competition. The girl is all smiles! She is a true inspiration!

Dreams Be Dreams

One of my absolute dream is to open a bakery. A successful bakery. A clean, fresh, beautiful bakery.

So my jaw dropped when I saw these photos of Magnolia Bakery in NYC on MadebyGirl

Just breathtaking…

I have the “More From Magnolia: Recipes from the World Famous Bakery and Allysa Torey” cookbook and it is fabulous! I always get a great response to the cupcakes and cakes that I make when I use the recipes in the book.

I also have this amazing Martha Stewart Collection Cupcake Tree and Martha Stewart Collection Cupcake Carrier
from Macy’s. The carrier is really neat – the reversible inserts make it easy to travel with cupcakes or cookies!

Heartfelt Accessories Part II

I have something really exciting to share! When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to do a “Senior Project.” When I was deciding what to do for my Senior Project, I knew I wanted to give back to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

I felt this way because previous to my decision to participate in the Senior Project, my grandfather, “Papa,” passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness. He spent about a week at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. My family was very overwhelmed and shocked. He had been in good health weeks before. The staff at The Brigham was great. Although there was not much they could do for Papa, they did everything in their power to comfort both my family and Papa in his last days.
So, I created my own little “accessories” line. I called it Heartfelt Accessories because Papa’s illness was related to his heart. I made tote bags, bracelets, necklaces, and other accessories. I raised $1,000! It felt so good to send the money into the hospital.Since then, The Brigham has sent me information regarding what they are doing. Boston has some of the best hospitals in the world and Brigham and Women’s is undoubtedly one of them.
Additionally, as an incoming Communications major, Heartfelt provided me a way to gain some experience in running a small business and creating a brand. I have decided to start up Heartfelt again. I have enlisted the help of Etsy, an awesome website that provides a place to sell handmade items. 20% of the net proceeds from the sale of any of the items in the shop will be donated to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. My goal is to raise at least $200 by the end of the summer!

I hope you check it out at: http://www.etsy.com/shop/heartfeltaccessories
